I am a compassionate, qualified consultant psychiatrist with more than 20 years of experience in diagnosing and treating adults with common and complex psychiatric conditions. I am currently working as a consultant psychiatrist in South London and Maudsley (SLaM) NHS Foundation Trust. I am a Sec 12 (2) approved clinician and registered with the General Medical Council (GMC), UK. I am a trained and experienced medical appraiser and conduct appraisals for other consultants and specialty doctors. I also teach medical students in Kings College London and supervise junior psychiatry trainee doctors of various grades. I have previously worked in NHS Plymouth for over 11 years since moving to the UK in February 2008.

I am a specialist associate member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych). I represent the college as a college assessor at Appointment Advisory Committee (AAC) panels during the appointment of consultants and as college adviser to various deaneries across the UK. I was the training programme director (TPD) in South West Peninsula Deanery and psychiatry lead for Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine & Dentistry (PU PSMD). I am a member of the British Medical Association (BMA) and have held the role of chair for the Local Negotiating Committee Chair at NHS Plymouth previously.
I also see patients privately in my clinics at Harley Street- London & Syon Clinic- Brentford. I provide remote assessments to the clients referred by Nuffield Health. I provide consultations to private patients including those from abroad. I conduct assessments and reviews in person and as well through Zoom/Skype/ Teams/Duo Teams if needed. I collect detailed psychiatric, developmental, medical and psychosocial history to formulate the diagnosis within the first consultation if possible and then devise my comprehensive management plan with the clients using evidence based treatments including medications and therapies.
I conduct assessments in English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu languages as per individual preference. I am registered with GDPR, and my company is registered with the Information Commissioners Office.
Expert Medico-Legal Psychiatric Assessments
I also provide medico-legal expert psychiatric assessments and reports for personal/ psychiatric injury compensation claims, civil cases, family courts, asylum seekers and refugees and occupational psychiatric assessments. My special interest areas include: Impact of trauma, trafficking, war, immigration on mental health; Transcultural Psychiatry; Neurobiology of psychiatric conditions; Psychopharmacology and Epigenetics.
I refer to in-house and external psychotherapists for specialist psychotherapies such as CBT, DBT, IPT, EMDR and Psychodynamic psychotherapies. I provide prescriptions for continuing medications between the consultations and send my detailed assessments with recommendations in the report to the clients and their GPs/ 3rd parties as consented.
